If we’re being honest
no Shakespearean sonnet
describes in enough detail
the way your smile derails
whatever thoughts trailed
through my head.
And who needs
iambic pentameter?
Perhaps I could woo
with a short wistful haiku
but that would be dumb.
And the problem with a
free
form
sentence
is that it always seems
way
too
pretentious
and distracts from the focus
Like your laugh or your gaze
or the fact that if our minds
were manifested as rooms
mine would be messy, not dirty
and yours would be an immaculate
organized atrocity and I love
that
So
in the interest of brevity:
Roses are red;
something, something
clever twist.
