The Trojan Human

Our saga begins at 7 a m
(Well, snooze alarm so 7:10)
And once again
She might be late
Work starts at eight
Rising can wait
On Her sleepless debate
Can She fake what it takes
To face another day

She’s a Trojan human
inside wooden skin
She’s seen how we’re made
So she’s blending in
To Our every day lives
Just trying to survive
Now, it’s not sabotage
More like camouflage
She sees us all, and how we’re going
And oh so badly wants to join in

She doesn’t need to be alone
The cracks in her mask aren’t
Enough to show her
that Everyone wears masks

No
She sees herself
As before wanting after
She pays no mind
To the bleeding asterix
Carving at her hips
Charcoal fingertips
Her mind begins to slip
Worthless
Sinner
Could be thinner

Her everydays an oddyssey
Beyond the mask
She hears them ask how odd is she
Her eyes fixed on concrete and feet
A hopeless gaze stuck to blacktop streets
Burning beneath
And her smiling teeth
With painted eyes
Will lie when they
Say I’m doing fine

Today was the final straw
The mask which cut her from us all
She learned you don’t need to rise
In order to fall
The thoughts ripped through her head
She fails again to sleep and
And the voices they said
The voices they said
The voices they said
The voices they said
Voices they

You guessed the rest
She’s obsessed with the festering mess in her chest
Been repressing the stress that’s been besting and testing she
Didn’t expect to be
Tried with anxiety
Trial so fiery
She’d hide behind smiles
The fuels for the pyres

And the cracks
In her Trojan mask
Had been billowing smoke
For awhile

She just needs a voice to call
Her out on her endless self destructive behavior
The smallest word might have gotten to save her
She never needed a savior

Just a reminder
Her reasons to fight on
Inside a Trojan
A warriors smile could brighten
Your day

But we all made mistakes
